Privacy Policy

Overview

The Site is a personal, static landing page operated by Tim G (“I,” “me,” or “the Site operator”). It introduces the operator and links to projects and profiles hosted elsewhere. It is not an online store, social network, or account-based service.

Collection is intentionally limited. Language preference and similar settings that improve your visit are stored on your device, unless you choose to contact me by email.

For purposes of applicable privacy laws, the operator of this Site is responsible for information directly collected through the Site, such as email correspondence.

Information and Data Practices

Information you choose to send. If you email contact.timg@icloud.com (or another address I publish), I receive the contents of that message, which may include your email address, name, and message body. That information is used to respond and, where reasonably necessary, to retain a record of the correspondence.

Preferences stored on your device. The Site may save your language choice and project-link host preference in browser local storage. Appearance follows your device’s light or dark setting, with an optional temporary session override. After you open the GitHub card preview, a short-lived session cache of public calendar data may be stored on your device. These values remain on your device and are not transmitted to a personal-data server operated by me in the ordinary course of operating the Site.

Technical data processed by hosting. This Site is published with GitHub Pages. Cloudflare may sit in front of the custom domain as a CDN. Hosting and CDN providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, device or operating-system information, referring URL, and request timestamps as part of delivering the Site. That processing is performed by those providers under their own systems and policies. Some linked project sites use Cloudflare as the main host and GitHub Pages as a backup.

Analytics and tracking. This Site does not use advertising trackers, behavioral profiling, or third-party analytics tools unless disclosed in a future update of this Policy.

Public GitHub calendar. Hovering, focusing, or opening the GitHub card preview may cause your browser to request public profile and contribution data from GitHub and from github-contributions-api.jogruber.de. Those requests are made from your device to those services under their own policies.

First-party media. After the page has finished loading, the browser may prefetch a performance video hosted on this Site (about 18 MB) so it can play sooner if you open the erhu dialog. Prefetch is skipped when the browser reports a data-saver setting or a 2G connection.

How Information Is Used

To display the Site and remember preferences you set.

To respond when you contact me.

To maintain security, diagnose issues, and improve the Site over time.

To comply with applicable law when required.

Sharing

I do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Service providers. Hosting and infrastructure providers process technical data as needed to deliver the Site. Outbound links (for example to GitHub, Instagram, or project pages) are operated by third parties under their own privacy policies.

Legal requirements. I may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or security.

Cookies and Local Storage

The Site is designed to rely primarily on local storage for preferences rather than advertising cookies. Your browser may still send routine technical data to the host as part of ordinary web requests.

You may clear site data, block storage, or use private browsing in your browser settings. Doing so may reset language or appearance preferences.

Retention

Preferences remain on your device until you clear them or change them on the Site.

Email you send is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond and manage correspondence, unless a longer period is required by law.

Children

The Site is a general personal page and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age under the laws of your jurisdiction). I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me and I will take appropriate steps.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding personal information. Because this Site collects very limited information, requests are generally limited to contact correspondence or information controlled by service providers.

You may control local preferences at any time using the language and theme controls on the Site, or by clearing browser storage.

Security

I take reasonable steps appropriate to a personal static website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use care when sending sensitive information by email.

Links to Other Sites

The Site links to third-party websites and services. Their privacy practices are their own. Review their policies before providing information to them.

Changes to This Policy

I may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting an updated version on the Site. The “Last updated” date at the top will indicate when revisions were made. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy.
